Who We Are > History
1898 is the starting year of Demolli , founded in Como by Lodovico Demolli , as a commercial and small production activity. It used to manufacture boxes for the packaging of woven and printed silk produced in the Como area.
Further on the "Lodovico Demolli" began producing the well-known "barchette" and packaging papers for textile application. In the meantime there was a trading activity of paper and board for several industrial applications.
The production of cores started in the Thirties, with the first machines installed after the second world war.
In 1947 joined the company Carlo Ripamonti, descendant of Lodovico Demolli and author of the growth of the actual Sonoco Alcore - Demolli .
He then started a steady development of the company through the building in 1967 of the main manufacturing plant, of the paper mill in 1969, and acquisitions that brought to the actual structure of the company, constituted by 4 cores manufacturing plants, and 1 paper mill.
During the years the Company has taken care of its international alliances, first with a partnership with Ahlstrom, the renowned Scandinavian paper and board producer. In 1995, a partnership with Sonoco Alcore - Demolli, the leading global manufacturer of consumer and industrial packaging products, was signed. The partnership was completed in December 2006, with the entrance of Sonoco Alcore - Demolli as majority Shareholder.
